A Closer Look At The Mercedes Sprinter 4×4

The Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 stands out among its peers due to its craftsmanship and feature. The vehicle is able to endure maximum traction when conditions call for the same. It can navigate steep grades, negotiate difficult off-road terrain, and tow and maneuver heavy trailers. This quality all-wheel-drive van offers everyone who loves adventure a new vehicle to consider when they want to travel during weekend or go off the beaten path.

The Sprinter 4×4 also features Electronic Stability Program (ESP). The program offers stability control by regulating the braking action on one or more wheels. ESP can also brake each individual wheel and adjust the engine output when necessary. ESP stability control thus corrects an incipient spin caused by an abrupt dodging maneuver within seconds. The van also comes with many enhanced safety systems to keep the driver and passengers safe. For example, the car has a Blind Spot Assist capabilities, Collision Prevention Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and High Beam Assistance.

The Sprinter 4×4 features true power that emanates from its advanced four-wheel drive system. It can also provide better traction, enhanced stability, and endurance in rougher terrain and extreme occupations than its competitors. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4 has greatly improved over the years in terms of traction, tires, off-road capabilities, design, back-up features, interior design, versatility and many other aspects.

It all-wheel-drive system is easy to activate. With just a push of a button, the driver can distribute the torque at a ratio of 35:65 between the front and rear axle. The driver does not need too much at this point. The Electronic Traction System 4 ETS will do the rest as the driver takes charge of the steering wheel and accelerator pedal. The standard-fit Adaptive ESP is always active even when with the all-wheel drive. This combination of all-wheel-drive technology and active safety is only available for the Sprinter in this segment.

The Sprinter 4×4 also features an additional reduction gear that gives the car a better grip in rough terrain. The gears are short by a factor of 1.42 or 42% when you push the low-range button to increase the tire’s traction. You can also enjoy the Downhill Speed Regulation System feature in the Sprinter 4×4. This system allows you to go downhill at a specific speed.

Although the Sprinter 4×4 is not an off-road van, its height (up to 4.3 inches in the front and 3.1 inches in the back) certainly gives the impression that it’s an all-terrain vehicle at first glance. Unlike the traditional four-wheel drive which tends to weigh a vehicle down and take up valuable payload capacity, the Sprinter 4×4 only adds 265 lbs of vehicle weight. This means it offers more traction without sacrificing payload or efficiency.

The van is efficient when it comes to fuel consumption. According to the official Mercedes-Benz manufacturer, the van consumes just 0.4 to 0.8 L per 100 km. Although its fuel consumption is higher when compared to the rear-wheel-drive, the Sprinter 4×4 has better performance capabilities. For instance, the Sprinter 313 Blue Tec 4×4 consumes just 8.3 L per 100 km.

The Sprinter 4×4 features a new and more powerful engine range. The high performance van comes with 2 four-cylinder diesel engines with power outputs of 129 hp and 163 hp, and displaces 2.15 L. The third available engine variant is a 6-cylinder diesel engine with a power output of 190 hp and a 3.0 L displacement.
